Baby Infant Pavlik Harness with Booties Orthopaedic Medical Device – For the Early Treatment of Hip Dysplasia
Description
This harness is a certified class 1 medical orthosis designed to maintain and stabilise the hips in the desired flexion and abduction position while allowing a safe range of motion at the hip joint. Adjustment of the anterior straps increases hip flexion, whereas tightening of the posterior straps promotes hip abduction, allowing the femoral head to securely deepen securely in the hip socket (acetabulum), so that the joint can form correctly and ligaments to tighten. It prevents dislocation and offers superior comfort for the child with extra cushioning and padding in areas that need it most.
This harness consists of a chest band, shoulder straps, and leg/foot straps designed to keep the hips bent and spread apart, while allowing for movement. It also comes with booties for extra comfort. The early intervention of a brace like this often completely corrects the problem without surgery.

Usage
This is a medical device and is typically fitted by a specialist. It should not be removed by parents, even during bathing, unless specifically advised by the clinical team. Parents should regularly check the baby’s skin for any signs of redness or soreness, ensuring particular attention is paid to skin creases. The harness should be kept clean, and the Velcro straps must remain securely fastened at all times to maintain the correct positioning. Follow-up appointments are usually scheduled on a weekly or fortnightly basis to monitor progress and assess hip development, often using ultrasound imaging.
